“I joined Reality Gives in March 2019 as part of the Italian Civil Service, in which the NGO IBO Italia sends volunteers to support local NGOs across the globe, and without hesitation – Mumbai was my choice! As I had previous experience both in the communications and in the non-profit sector, they thought the Fundraising & Marketing team would be a good fit for me.

I spent exactly one year working at Reality Gives, supporting the team with social media, photography, internal training, and fundraising! And I’m telling you: this was not the typical “office job”! One day you are at school having the sweetest conversation with the kids, another one you meet all the incredible people at the Youth Program and maybe the next day you have to attend an event or a meeting in a corporate outside Dharavi! I loved my role because I got to interact with all the team and also with the guides and team of Reality Tours and Travel!

Honestly, this volunteer experience with Reality Gives exceeded my expectations: as a volunteer, you are highly motivated to support the local community by giving but then you realise that what you get back is more than what you tried to give. The amount of support, care, and fun I had with the team were simply amazing! I’ve grown as a person both professionally and personally and for this, I’m grateful to Reality Gives!”
